We had so many teachers being trained for Project Lead the Way on Friday. Thank you, Kati, for facilitating the learning! Good Morning Everyone!
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind, and I don’t know if we are going to see it slow down a lot in the coming weeks leading up to the final day of school. This week we will also see a shift to warmer weather, which of course will make all of us antsy- adults and students alike. I am trying to enjoy the ride, as I also have so much happening in my home life as well. Nobody prepared me for what it is like to have your first child graduate from high school and prepare for the first semester of college. While I am so happy for my son, I am actually quite terrified of the next few weeks and months. Planning a graduation party, figuring out how we pay for next year, and trying to enjoy all of his “lasts” has definitely taken its toll on my emotions. So, if you see me looking a bit overwhelmed over the next few weeks, it is because of all that I am trying to juggle while also trying to “land the plane” on this school year. I know that many of you are in the same boat, and I take a lot of comfort in being able to chat with so many of you who are in it as well, or those of you who have been there and have good advice for me. That all said, this week looks especially busy. Please make note in your plans that the fourth grade chorus will present their end of year concert to all classes on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30pm in the cafeteria. This will essentially be their dress rehearsal for their big concert at Nipmuc High School on Thursday night at 7pm. We also have three field trips happening this week. Grades K and 4 will be taking trips to the zoo while second graders will be headed to the Ecotarium. The weather looks great (if not a bit warm) for these trips. We will be finishing up the hiring process for our new second grade Spanish Immersion teacher this week, and I hope to begin to move forward with the hirings that need to happen in Kindergarten. I am hoping that we will be able to head into the summer with most of our new hires in place. I know many of you are in the midst of PLTW units and project-based activities in math for unit 8. Please let me know if there is something happening in your classroom that I can come to enjoy. This time of year I spend a lot of time in meetings in my office, and being able to block off time to see all of you and the kids putting all of the learning together in these final projects helps make the long days more enjoyable. Have a great week! Warmly, Wendy
